In IBS basically the digestive system and excretory system go through problems like bloating, cramps in the stomach and abdomen, some people often complain about constipation while there are also chances of getting diarrhoea. These painful and disturbing experiences are faced by the individual quite often and tends to disturb their life and routine a lot. That is because these are basically the health issues and one is not able to eat well or certain foods because they might cause the beginning of either bloating or other problems mentioned above.
  • What causes it? – The cause of IBS is not widely known yet, however there are experts who say this can be due to excessive stress and especially for a longer period of time. It is a popular and known the fact that the guy is the second brain. Our digestive system is directly influenced by our mind and what goes into it, that is why problems of the brain affect our eating habits and our eating habits and the choice of our food affects the brain. Other than stress, certain type of foods may also cause IBS, but it varies person to person in the choice of food. Moreover, studies have revealed that people in their 20s and 30s often show signs of IBS and if not treated this progresses, staying with a person till the end. IBS tends to affect twice the number of women than men; the causes of this are unknown though.
  • Cures and treatments – Unfortunately, IBS has no cure or permanent treatment, however there are steps one can take to keep an IBS in check. A person needs to monitor and lower their stress levels, seeing a psychologist would be a wise option. Moreover exercising and keeping the body in shape is a huge help as well. Water intake will help clean the intestines and digestive system that will lower the symptoms and problems. Other than that, try to find out the foods that trigger the IBS symptoms and avoid them. Amendments in the diet would have to be made. There is also some medication available for people that only the doctor can recommend, but it also helps get some relief. Lastly, people living with IBS tend to develop depression and even anxiety. In order to manage that, regular counselling must be taken as well as antidepressants if the doctor has prescribed.
