Step by Step method

  • Method to Cook Wheat

  • Step 1

    Wash wheat properly and soak in water with pinch of soda over night

  • Step 2

    In the morning drain water in a colander and wash wheat again under fresh running water, boil it and add a pinch of soda again after 15 minutes. Once boiled set them aside. The entire process will not take more than hour or so. This is the quickest way to boil to wheat, cooking for Haleem then becomes tad easy and everyone’s cup of tea.

  • Method to Cook Haleem

  • Step 1

    Combine beef, salt, red chili powder, turmeric, garam Masala, ginger garlic paste, sliced onion and Dalda cooking oil with two cups of water in a deep pan on medium flame. Let it simmer for 45-50 minutes till water is dried, Dalda cooking oil leaves the edges of the pan and beef is cooked, lower the flame and now add cooked wheat and stir well for at least 10-12 minutes .

  • Step 2

    Then add boiled Bengal Gram and keep stirring, once all the three ingredients combine properly lower the heat and let it simmer on slow flame. You may add 4 cups of water at this stage and let it simmer for 10 minutes till steams starts coming out and you can smell aroma of Bengal gram, wheat mixed with all the aromatic spices. Now add 4-6 tbsp of hot Dalda cooking oil on top and handful of fried onions, 1 tbsp of garam Masala and squeeze a lemon from top.

  • Step 3

    Let Haleem simmer on slow on flame for another 5-7 minutes and now Haleem is ready to be served with the mentioned condiments. An amazing dish for your Ramadan dinner or Iftaari.
