Step by Step method

  • Method to make custard

    Add corn flour to 1 litre of milk, add sugar, whisk well and let it simmer on slow flame, keep stirring it with a wooden spoon till it thickens, switch off the flame.

  • Method to assemble English pudding

  • Step 1

    In a semi deep flat casserole add custard and place cake slices on the top, pour hot milk on top and squeeze 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice.

  • Step 2

    Add strawberries on the top, sprinkle almonds and then put fresh cream on top,

  • Step 3

    Repeat the procedure; top it up with fresh cream, strawberries, almonds and jelly Keep it in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving.

  • Step 4

    Serve chilled.

Tips & variations

  • You can make this trifle with your favorite fruits like peaches, mangoes, mixed fruits like plums, berries and apricots other than strawberries.
